Each day begins with a fresh story challenge and a burst of cinematic inspiration.

02

Storyboard & build

Teams plan their beginning, middle and ending, then build characters, sets and props.

03

Animate & edit

Children film frame by frame, add sound ideas and shape their scene into a short movie.

04

Premiere & awards

The day ends with a screening, celebration and playful awards for each team.

Why parents like it

Purposeful screen time, not passive screen time.

Movie Makers Club gives children a joyful way to collaborate, solve problems, tell stories and use technology creatively. The group size is kept small so every child can contribute and feel part of the finished film.

Parent confidence

Parents Can Feel Confident

A full-day workshop should feel exciting for children and reassuring for parents. Movie Makers Club is kept small, practical and warmly led, with clear routines so every child has room to join in.

Small groups

Each workshop has a maximum of 12 children, giving everyone the chance to share ideas, build, animate and contribute to the finished movie.

Experienced leadership

Workshops are led by Ian, who is PGCE qualified and has experience teaching children and young people, including in a youth club setting.

Safeguarding and DBS

Current DBS checks, safeguarding awareness and clear day-to-day procedures support appropriate supervision throughout the workshop.

Inclusive environment

Beginners are welcome, and quieter children can take part through building, planning, animation or sound without being put on the spot.

Creative learning

Children practise storytelling, planning, collaboration and digital creativity, with the focus on confidence, imagination and problem-solving.

Parents can share allergy, medical, SEND, access or confidence notes before the day so support can be planned thoughtfully.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Who runs the workshops?

The workshops are led by Ian, who is PGCE qualified and has experience teaching children and young people, including in a youth club setting.

My child is shy. Will they be okay?

Yes. The workshop is designed so children can contribute in different ways. A quieter child might prefer building sets, suggesting story ideas, moving characters, helping with sound or working alongside a friend.

Does my child need experience?

No. The workshops are designed for beginners as well as children who already love filmmaking or animation.

What supervision is provided?

Workshops are capped at 12 children and children are supervised throughout the day, including creative activities, lunch and collection. Parent contact details and any medical, allergy or support notes are gathered before the session.

Does my child need to bring LEGO® bricks?

No. LEGO® bricks, animation equipment and workshop materials are provided.

Will children work individually or in teams?

Children work in small collaborative teams. Each child is encouraged to contribute ideas, building, animation and sound.

Will parents receive the finished films?

Yes. Parents will receive access to the completed movies after the session.

Can siblings attend together?

Yes. Siblings are welcome, and the sibling ticket is available when booking more than one child from the same family.

Can friends be booked together?

Yes, where places are available. Add the friend's name when you register or email ahead of the session and the team will do their best to place friends together.

Can children attend multiple workshops?

Yes. Each date has a different story challenge, so children can return and make a new movie each time.

How do drop-off and collection work?

Children are signed in by a parent or carer at drop-off and released only to a named adult on the registration form at collection.

What about SEND or additional needs?

Please email before booking if your child may need extra support. The sessions are small and supportive, and advance notes help the team plan well.

What happens if my child is absent?

If your child cannot attend, please email as soon as possible. Refunds and transfers depend on the cancellation timing and whether the space can be filled.

What is the cancellation policy?

Cancellations made more than 7 days before the session will receive a full refund. Refunds within 7 days depend on whether the space can be filled.
