What happens
Each day begins with a fresh story challenge and a burst of cinematic inspiration.
Teams plan their beginning, middle and ending, then build characters, sets and props.
Children film frame by frame, add sound ideas and shape their scene into a short movie.
The day ends with a screening, celebration and playful awards for each team.
Why parents like it
Movie Makers Club gives children a joyful way to collaborate, solve problems, tell stories and use technology creatively. The group size is kept small so every child can contribute and feel part of the finished film.
Parent confidence
A full-day workshop should feel exciting for children and reassuring for parents. Movie Makers Club is kept small, practical and warmly led, with clear routines so every child has room to join in.
Each workshop has a maximum of 12 children, giving everyone the chance to share ideas, build, animate and contribute to the finished movie.
Workshops are led by Ian, who is PGCE qualified and has experience teaching children and young people, including in a youth club setting.
Current DBS checks, safeguarding awareness and clear day-to-day procedures support appropriate supervision throughout the workshop.
Beginners are welcome, and quieter children can take part through building, planning, animation or sound without being put on the spot.
Children practise storytelling, planning, collaboration and digital creativity, with the focus on confidence, imagination and problem-solving.
Parents can share allergy, medical, SEND, access or confidence notes before the day so support can be planned thoughtfully.
